This year is going to be exciting as BCCI is all set to begin the much-awaited Women’s Premier League Season 1 in India with 5 teams. The Women’s T20 Challenge which is the predecessor of the WPL started as a single-match tournament in the year 2018 and expanded to a three-team, three-match competition held in 2019, 2020, and 2022. The tournament will consist of 5 teams and a total of 22 matches, with the first season being played in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
Women’s Premier League 2023 Schedule
The first season of the Women’s Premier League 2023 will be played from March 2023 onwards. Five teams will initially compete against one another in a double round-robin style, with the three teams who finish with the highest points advancing to the competition’s playoff rounds. The BCCI claims that if the league is a success, the number of games and teams will be raised in upcoming seasons.
All games in the first season will take place between March 4 and March 26, 2023, at the D.Y.Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium. It will begin eight days after the conclusion of the Women’s T20 World Cup. The media rights for the first five years of the Women’s Premier League were awarded to Viacom18 on January 16, according to BCCI. For the 2023–2027 season, the winning bid of INR 951 crore equates to INR 7.09 crore per game.

Women’s Premier League Auction Date
Women’s Premier League 2023 auction date is on February 13, 2023, Mumbai will host the first player auction to purchase players through open bidding and determine the squads for each franchise.
