Viacom18 which is a joint venture between ViacomCBS and TV18, will be introducing its English sports channels, Sports18 1 HD and Sports18 1 SD on 15th Apr, 2022. The channels are priced at Rs 12 to Rs 8 for the consumers.
As per the FICCI-EY report, DD Free Dish + CTV subscriber base will cross 90 Mn by 2025. This report also stated that the steady growth of Free (cable) TV, Pay TV & CTV shows that TV connection will keep growing by 5% every year and will cross 67% of the Indian households by 2025.
According to the BARC data for the week 1 – 10, 2022, news channel Aaj Tak has clocked 300 Mn reach. Aaj Tak is also the only news channel in India to cross the 20 Mn subscriber mark on YouTube.
Glance InMobi Pte. Ltd. (an advertising and marketing company) has announced that it has acquired Gambit Sports Pvt Ltd, the Indian gaming company. Glance Games has more than 45 Mn monthly active users across Asia. 70% of the users belong to the age group of 18 to 34, and more than 40% of gamers are female.
Evan Spiegel, the Co-founder and CEO of Snap announced that Snapchat has reached 100 Mn monthly snapchatters in India, and more than 75% of the users fall in the age group of 13 to 24 years.
According to the FICCI-EY report, the subscription revenue of video OTT is expected to grow at 24% CAGR. This growth is expected to overtake TV broadcast in terms of subscription revenue collection by the year 2024.
As per the Pitch Madison Advertising Report 2022, digital will replace TV as the primary advertising medium within this year, with online gaming becoming a large driver in this space.
